I am me
Scottie Rocks is in the house!
You’ve seen me in Asylum Volume 2... You’ve seen me in pictures on Shaun T's Facebook... You’ve seen me walking next to the man... You’ve seen me running around behind the scenes at events making sure things run smoothly... [blockquote]But who is that guy?![/blockquote] Well, I'm glad you asked! Let’s start from the beginning... What follows will be random and will jump all over the place, but that is me and how I think. I have accepted it. I was born in upstate New York but my parents raised me in Seattle, WA with my older brother, Kevin. We were a VERY active family! We played every sport possible as youngsters but realized very early on that soccer was our passion. Soccer taught me a lot and took me around the world, culminating with a six-year professional career playing for teams in Sweden, Seattle, Portland, Cincinnati, and Buffalo. After I retired in 2000, I worked for my parents’ company as the “money guy," handling all the accounting. While still overseeing the financial side of the business, I moved to NYC to pursue a modeling career after being “discovered” by a scout. On the outside, everything seemed wonderful, happy, and perfect—but on the inside I was struggling, unhappy, and hating everything about myself because I was gay. [blockquote]On the outside, everything seemed wonderful, happy, and perfect—but on the inside I was struggling, unhappy, and hating everything about myself because I was gay.[/blockquote] For me, growing up gay was HARD. Being a gay professional athlete was even harder—almost tumultuous. DON’T WORRY, I’m not gonna get up on a soap box and preach to you about gays, gayness, or politics—my goal here is to simply talk about acceptance. All I ever wanted was to be accepted for who I was, and because I didn’t see any “normal” gay people, I thought gay was bad. Think about this: what if having blue eyes was freakish...or having blond hair was considered abnormal...or having a second toe longer than your big toe was wrong. How would you handle it? It wasn’t until I met Shaun and his amazing self that I learned that being gay was amazing, because I was being ME...a genuine ME! There is such joy in not having to pretend to be something else! It frees my brain and allows it to enjoy all of the wonderful sights, sounds, and smells that life has to offer—and it's these very differences that I learned make me special! [blockquote]For the first time in my life, I accept who I am.[/blockquote] For the first time in my life, I accept who I am. It’s an AMAZEBALLS feeling accepting who you are! It’s scary but exhilarating! Some days, I regress and try to make everyone think I have no faults, but when I wake up from that haze and realize what I have been doing, I fix it. So, that is just a little about me. I am BEYOND excited to be part of the ShaunTourage and be able to share more about who I am in hopes that someone else out there might identify with these same struggles and realize that it’s actually okay to be yourself. We are all human—EVEN SHAUN T—TRUST AND BELIEVE! I just want you to allow yourself to embrace your inner YOU, so you can have more time to eat Dairy Queen Blizzards and be amazing!Happy Father’s Day

How to give it your all
Did you give your all yesterday?
It's such a simple question, but one you should ask yourself at the end of each and every day. There are days when after I reflect I think, I could have given more... I could have done more... When I feel this way, I make it my goal for tomorrow to be better, to go harder, to truly give everything I have the next day and prove to myself that I am capable of achieving the greatness that lies within me. [blockquote]I want YOU to believe in your POWER![/blockquote] The real question is though, do YOU want to give it your all? I bet you do. I can't imagine you wanting to give anything less than 100% to yourself, because I know your soul craves to be the best you possible! When I dance or lead a workout, I ALWAYS give it my ALL! Why? Because I love what I do. I absolutely LIVE for it! If you love what you do, you have passion. If you have passion, you have commitment. If you have commitment, you will put all your energy into embracing your potential and DIGGING DEEPER and going for it. [blockquote]If you love what you do, you have passion. If you have passion, you have commitment. If you have commitment, you will put all your energy into embracing your potential and DIGGING DEEPER.[/blockquote] So, did you give it your all yesterday? Because today is a new day—it's YOUR day to exceed your own expectations. I want YOU to tear the roof off your life and realize there's no ceiling but the big blue sky!The post How to give it your all appeared first on Shaun T.

The STandards of lost luggage
STory time
So, after a LONG week at Beachbody's Coach Summit, I was so excited to get home and just chill. I get off the plane and go to baggage claim only to find that I am short one bag. I wait till the very last bag comes out...but NOPE...it still ain't there. So, I go over to the American Airlines counter and they basically tell me I am S.O.L. (if you aren't sure what that means, Google it). They make me fill out a claim, which I then have to try to remember what the heck we packed in that bag because in case you don't know, I have a bit of a sneaker problem and bought a lot of them while we were in Vegas for all the workouts, performances, and events. So, we rearrange things and move stuff around and do the best we can to recount what we remember was in the bag. At the end of the day, we had to go home without all of our stuff and just hope and pray that somehow, some way, the bag would be recovered. [blockquote]If you were to accidentally take someone else’s bag—or pick up anything that you later realized wasn’t yours—would you not do the decent human thing and do your best to get it back to its rightful owner?[/blockquote] Well, guess what? After investigation by the airlines, we finally hear back now that the bag made it on our plane in Vegas, then off our plane at JFK, and it even arrived to baggage claim...BUT...someone picked up our bag, and of course, once they realized it wasn't theirs, they did the honorable thing and returned it. NOT! They did NOT return it. DID NOT! I want you to think about that for a minute. If you were to accidentally take someone else's bag—or pick up anything that you later realized wasn't yours—would you not do the decent human thing and do your best to get it back to its rightful owner? I mean, really?! Shoot, keep the contents for that matter but return it to the airport so the bag can be returned to its rightful owner. [blockquote]Things are things and they can be replaced. But when something is taken from you, it's such a violation![/blockquote] It seriously saddens me to think that there are people in this world who are not more honest. Yes, things are things and they can be replaced. But when something is taken from you, it's such a violation! It's the principle of the matter, and it really shows a breakdown in the human morality chain somewhere. I trust and believe in you. I know that when faced with a decision you will always choose the moral high road. So, let's get into it and talk STandards—what are yours and what are you seeing in your world that either inspires you or makes you want to FIX humanity? The post The STandards of lost luggage appeared first on Shaun T.

Off the Cuff with Marcia
Who is Marcia Cuff?
Let’s see. I wear many hats within my 24 hour day—more than I sometimes think I can handle (shhh, that’s our secret...no one is allowed to know that I sometimes feel overwhelmed). I am a 35 year-old mother, a Registered Nurse, a newly-minted Beachbody Coach just this May, and the Apparel Manager for Shaun T, Inc. That’s right, ladies and gentleman...I am the lady behind the postage that brings you your Fly Fitness Wear, a.k.a. the amazing Shaun T apparel. [blockquote]I always knew in my heart that he would be SOMEBODY; wasn’t sure who/what, but I always knew that he would have a HUGE impact on many peoples’ lives.[/blockquote] I am also one of the “Core Four,” Shaun T’s “bestie,” and of the ShaunTourage, I have known him the longest. Yep, I knew the “T” before he was “The T.” Looking back on all of the years that Shaun and I have been BFF’s, I can honestly say, I always knew in my heart that he would be SOMEBODY; wasn’t sure who/what, but I always knew that he would have a HUGE impact on many peoples’ lives. Hmm, was I right, or was I right? PS: I am also the member of the ShaunTourage who lives for modifying exercises lol. After Shaun’s workouts, I constantly find myself saying “#T.G.I.M. (Thank Goodness I Modify)—more to come on that later ;-) I’ll let you in on a little known secret: Shaun T was my first “boyfriend.” HAAAAAA! Yes, Shaun T (or as I have always referred to him, Shaun Charles), once held my hand, carried my books to my locker in the middle school hallway, and took me to my eighth grade dance. While that relationship lasted all of about 15 minutes, our friendship and our bond has lasted the many years since then (twenty-plus, but who’s counting?). One of my favorite “people” on the planet is Dr. Seuss—pay attention, he speaks VOLUMES of truth. My favorite book in the universe: “Oh the Places You’ll Go.” Read it. Study it. Hopefully, you will get from it what I have. That being said, let me tell you a story about me... [blockquote]I sat down with my parents and the thing that stuck out in my mind the most was when they said to me, “YOU have never been a ‘statistic,’ nor will you become one now.”[/blockquote] Has anyone ever seen that show on MTV, “Sixteen and Pregnant?” Would you believe that, had that show been out years ago, I could have been a cast member? Well, actually, my episode would have been “Seventeen and Pregnant,” but you get my drift. I was starting my senior year of high school, pregnant, and scared beyond belief. I remember thinking to myself, “what do I do now?” I sat down with my parents and the thing that stuck out in my mind the most was when they said to me, “YOU have never been a ‘statistic,’ nor will you become one now.” And they were right; you know why? Because, with the help of my amazing support system, I decided to MAKE it that way. When you watch shows like “Sixteen and Pregnant,” you will notice that there are many different paths a teenage mother can take; however, I am a FIRM believer that your life is YOUR book, and you hold the power of the pen. You have the power to write and create your ending, and if you choose to make things positive for yourself, your outcome will reflect just that. You are a product of your own mind, ad what YOU believe, you will achieve! [blockquote]I am a FIRM believer that your life is YOUR book, and you hold the power of the pen.[/blockquote] Later that year, I gave birth to a beautiful daughter, graduated in the top 5% of my high school class, received a full academic scholarship to Nursing school, and the rest is history (and STILL in the making). Seventeen years later, I am happy to report that that I am the proud mother of a 17 year-old, Ivy-League bound, Principal’s List and National Honors Society making, senior student in high school, who is now, herself, “Off to Great Places.” The moral of my story: Shaun and I grew up in a very small town in NJ—I won’t even tell you the name (you won’t recognize it lol), but just know that if you smell the pig farms, you’re probably passing thru it! Just look at what he’s become. I can say the same for myself! I (WE) are proof in the pudding that, if you make the most of what you’re given, remain positive, and keep pushing thru, the limits in life are non-existent, and “Oh The Places You’ll Go.” #manilovemyteamFollow Marcia

Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to create as many words as possible out of ShaunTourage and post your best effort in the comments.
